Youth Groups at Peace Memorial Church

“Bound by Friendship, Growing through Service, Exploring our Faith”

Peace Memorial Church has a strong youth program which consists of both fun activities and service opportunities always rooted in friendship and faith. Our youth groups are a great place for where pre-teens and teenagers gather to socialize and explore their Christian faith. While many of their families are members of the church, a great number are friends who have been invited to come and continue to do so.

We have two youth groups – our Junior High School Youth Group and our Senior High Youth.

For the most part, our programming year follows that of the school year from September to June. In the summer our youth also being involved in our summer softball league,
volunteering at our Tower Hill, the UCC church camp in Sawyer, Michigan as well as participating in service events and all youth mission trip.

Junior High School Youth Group

The Junior High Youth Group is for students in grades 6 to 8. At the beginning of each year, the group sits down to make a tentative plan for the year. It is very important to us that we choose activities and events that fit into most everyone’s schedules and variety of interests.

Senior High School Youth Group

The Senior High Youth Group is for students in grades 9 to 12. Along with retreats and mission trips, our high school youth get together for a once a month activities that combines fun and fellowship with Bible study and Christian service.

Youth Group Ministry Highlights

Each year, our youth find their most memorable times are when they have an opportunity to
reach out to others and build relationships within the group.

Some of our favorite team building experiences are:

• Overnight Retreats and Lock-ins

• Service events

• Youth led worship services

Mission Trips

The most significant ministry projects for our youth are our mission trips.

Youth and leaders work in homeless shelters, food pantries, clothing banks, and other settings to support those in need. We have traveled throughout the United States doing a variety of service activities.

Our youth continually say that the mission projects have changed their lives, opened their eyes, and strengthened their faith in Christ and his work in our lives. Mission trips are an
incredible bonding experience where many life-long friendships are formed. As a result of their service effects in through the youth program at Peace Memorial Church, many of our youth also volunteer with non-profit organizations while away at college and throughout their lives.
